My wife Delia also has a December 9th birthday. In her case it was in 1935, making her 78 today. We were married on November 21, 1959 so we have been hitched for 54 years. Her circus connection is mostly to put up with me, though she does enjoy the genre. She saw her first circus in 1941 - - RBBB in Jacksonville, FL. |

Richard, how long have you two been married?
Barbara and I will have out 55th Anniversary next Saturday.
Richard,
Remember behind every good man is a real good woman.
Before I got married I checked my wife out on the circuses as we went to 8 different ones and she loved it.
Got her an elephant ride and that was the best to her.
We do our circus adventures together and love it.
Hope she had a great Birthday.
And Mr. Richard you keep those blog comments coming as it is pure circus history and that is what it is all about.
You two have a great Holiday season.

Richard my friend, Tell Delia that Kathy & I hope she has a very Happy Birthday and many more. I took my then, wife to be to her 1st circus in 1972, RBBB here in Columbia at Carolina Coliseum. I can`t remeber if it was the Red or Blue Unit, but she was pretty amazed!! We got married the next year and she`s been stuck with a circus lover for over 40 years now!!!
Congrats, lovebirds, on what both of you more than likely consider to be "The Greatest Marriage on Earth". And all these years without having to re-up the contract every two years or so.
Hal if Columbia is on the Rodeo
Route then 72 would have been Red
(AKA Circus Williams)
Dec 9th was my birthday plus 5 months and I feel privileged to share the same number birthday with such a lovely lady. I too was blessed to have been married to a wonderful woman who loved everything about the Circus...and Zoos, and animals...our Christmas cards were always with animals from snakes to chimps, to horses to elephants. Thanks to all of you Showfolks.
Dave, you know what I'm talking about as do a lot of you other gentlemen.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MRS RJRIII and many more in continuing good health and happiness.
