Ice Skating Bear #1 (From Eric Beheim)

Here are some frame enlargements taken from newsreel footage circa 1941 or earlier, that show an ice skating bear. (I’ve seen a poster for the Pallenbergs’ roller-skating bears, but never knew that a bear could also ice skate.) But, as Carl Denham said, “Seeing is believing.” So feast your eyes on what might have been the only ice skating bear of its day. (The bear and its trainer are unidentified, but somewhere there undoubtedly exists an old ice show souvenir program or a Billboard article that tells who they were.)
