Woodcocks Elephants #1

Yesterday's Polack pictures got me reminiscing about the origin of our family elephant act. During the 1951 season with Kelly-Miller, my Dad decided to call it a day and turn it over to Logan. D.R. made a counter proposal to frame a baby elephant act and book it out, so he purchased three from Trefflich and after their arrival, sent my Dad up to the Central Park Zoo only to discover one had a crippled hind leg. So my Dad managed to talk D.R. into borrowing "Anna May" temporarily (no easy task) since the offers were already coming in and too late to order another.
