This pose brings back memories of the Pushme-Pullyu we had on DR. DOLITTLE. The few who saw the movie will recall the two-ended llama, which Dolittle brought to circus owner Albert Blossom, played by Richard Attenborough. We shot the circus sequences at Disney's Golden Oaks Ranch, in Placerita Canyon, and the heat was oppressive. Two girls stood in the costume, while the heads were fitted down over them. Inside the necks dangled lines with rings on them so the girls fingers could make the ears, noses, and eyes move. Hairdresser Margaret Donovan hurried like mad to comb the hair over the costume's split and comb the neck hair over the shoulders. The girls inside were all but suffocating and could only work in the heads some two minutes. At one time, I knew both their names. They were not given screen credit. The resultant extravagant dance number was "I've Never Seen Anything Like It", and Attemborough almost stole the movie with his energetic terpsichory.
