Here's a curious historical correction from the caption describing Cheerful Gardner's history: Goebel's, which had a series of names, and was then Goebel's Lion Farm, was always in Thousand Oaks, which was such a small village it had no post office. For mail, the address had to be Camarillo, and it took a trip up the road to get it. Goebel was later instrumental in getting a post office in the Oaks, in the back of the small grocery store, the Oakdale Market. This building still stands, presently a home decor store.
