The Cassellys (Germany) use equestrian whips. 2012 Gold Clown winner with four African elephants.

Lou Regan used one, as did I. I don't think it is a "nationality" thing, as much as it depends on how much you want to have to run around and chase them. Me personally? I always thought it looked better for the trainer to be for the most part stationary, instead of running back and forth, and all around. Axel was indeed a master in the art of using a long lashed, twisted willow whip effortlessly.

Bob, I have also seen numerous clips and pictures of Mr. Casselly using a short stocked bull whip. A long horse lunge whip is for the most part useless, and an "equestrian whip" or buggy whip is used in conjunction with an elephant hook. If not carried(as has become the 'fad' today) at least kept close by, at "arms reach."
