Fuzzy Plunkett with Cole Bros. Circus.

Paul Nelson worked this act when we were with the show.
The horse kept a steady pace around the ring while Paul would toss hoops, balls, torches, etc.

Fuzzy Plunkett helped Lee and Judy Stevens get their sea lion act underway. He turned out a very nice act.

Pony riding sea lions go back at least to the very eary 1900s. Don't know if he was first but the best known act was Capt. Winston who was on Barnum and Bailey in 1904 with riding sea lions. Bennie Kirkbride had a riding sea lion act into the 1950s at the San Diego Zoo. The classic routine was two sea lions on two ponies and one sea lion on the ground who would toss objects to the riders.
