Buckles,
Great pictures, thank you for sharing. Even if they did nothing but a pyramid, what a spectacular sight.

This is Nelly Haller. She was one of Court's mistresses. He wanted her to present the act, but she wasn't up to it. Also he had Pat Borne as his number one mistress on the go at the same time. Pat got wind of this and there was an enormous fight in a cafe in Paris. The old man decided that two mistresses and a wife was too much, so Nelly had to go, as Pat was already working a small group of lions. He had a child with each one of them. Pat's child lived only three years and sadly died of pneumonia. He and his wife had officially adopted the child. Her name was Mary. Nelly had a daughter as well, and I have only just discovered this recently while researching my book on Alfred Court. All will be revealed when I eventually finish it. However, research is slow at the moment.

If anyone has any photos of Jack Berry I would be interested in them, as one of the Court presenters.

Jim,
Great stuff. I can hardly wait for your book. I guess that puts to rest rumors of Court's "sexual persuasion." Unless he had the endurance to fly both way's as well as train large cage act. In that case, my hat is off to him. :)

Comes as a disappointment to learn that the great Alfred Court would allow a woman to tell him what to do.
