This picture caught my eye.

Do the elephants seem comfortable laying like that? I know that they can be trained to do it and wil do it, but they might not be in a comfortable position when they do it. They aren't in any harm, they'd just rather not lay on their side, in this case. (and they aren't down like this for long either!)
Just curious about this. Is it also based on the "personality" of the animal. (some liked to lay this way, others didn't?); 22 June, 2012 08:57

Simply put, yes, do they like to lay down on their sides like that?

I've seen horses do it and seem to enjoy it, but never seen cows lay on their sides, and don't remember seeing the elephants lay on their sides, except to move from one position into another.; 24 June, 2012 17:03
