Ernie worked in the Chicago area for L. N. Fleckles both the Medinah Shrine Circus and the Aerial Thrill shows in Daley Plaza and later Navy Pier. He was a real nice guy with a good announcing voice.

He was with us on Suesz in '75. I'd met him on the Texas Dates, with time for visits. On the road for that season, we became good friends. At the time, his wife Margie was sick at home, and he was constantly calling back to consult with her caregivers and doctors. He was among the best of the announcers, and I can still him singing "Japanese Sandman" for a Texas Date aerial number.
Ernie could have announced the ten commandments in a Cecil B.Demille epic, and also had a personality that could put a child at ease on a morning kiddie show.
A two thumbs up for a great gent.
Ernie contacted John Cuneo on the Hamid show and told him about a young guy working the tigers and elephants on Clyde Bros where Ernie was Ringmaster, and that he should try to sign him. The rest as they say is history.......
