Norman Anderson told me a wonderful story about his father sending him out to defunct Tom Mix show winter quarters with a blank check to buy the two elephants "Babe" and "Eva". Instead the price was right and he returned to Kansas with not only the elephants but about a half dozen vehicles including their equipment. As they pulled in the gate he heard his father yell, "My god Luke! What have you done? I'm ruined!" Above is the stake driver included in the deal.
