Welcome to Buckles Blog. This site is for the discussion of Circus History all over the world.
They had 3 very elaborate double cable drum winches to operate this center cluster so that each set of pick up lines were double purchase They were laced through the twin sheaved trunion blocks shown here Quiz on Friday folks
I just lied about the winches There were 6 of them
Seems to me that the lower girders were something like 80ft or more above the arena floor
I remember one of the polish rigger told me thet the had 90 feetcable extensions on there blocks for the frames
Sounds about right Henry as they played at a fairly severe angle which made it all the tougher to counter their weight in the swag I think it was Tuffy that did the advance & tried to warn about it The office on 18th Street hired some lame engineering outfit to consult & sign off on it
Trying to figure out this heavy line in the foreground that seems to start well above our line of sight & may reach the floor Could be a drop (hauling) line
