Hi Buckles, Here are some pictures of the NBC tent we did in 1975. This was built by Leaf in 1974 . NBC sold the tent to TVW Enterprises at the end of the Peter Pan tour. They used it for different events in Australia for 5-6 years.

My wife has some business appointments in Tampa this afternoon and wants to swing by the Fair on the way home to check out the exhibits.
With that thought in mind I think I'll pick up Jamie and Kay on the way and while Barbara is examining the latest potato peeler, the kids can ride the Simp-hoister and the Goof-twister and they can watch while I make a couple of drops on the Giant Bungee Jump.

Not at all.
In fact I'm considering a try out at the Buccaneer Spring Training Camp.

Casey,
Thanks for the photos of that monster tent.
I wonder what the dead man looked like at both ends to anchor it.
We sure miss Bobby and his unvarnished jackpots.
He could spread it on like cold peanut butter.
Gone but not forgotten.

Hi Casey

Is that a huge curved flying track

mounted to the elaborate truss

affair that looks heavy as hell

Did you have loads of chain hoists

Can't imagine this all went up

with just falls

We had to dig a 5 ft square 6 ft deep hole at each end filled with concrete for the dead man. I had a Chinese crew digging them in Hong Kong and i told my interpreter to tell them when they got to Chicago to stop digging ! I thought i would get a good laugh out of it but they did not get it. Chic we had a winch called a Cable Climer that used 3/8 cable. There were 2 on each pole that we raised the truss system then when it was up we pinned through the pole and put the weight on the pins. We had Groush in L.A. build the truss system all aluminum. George Van Burain had built the track. Again my circus days paid off.

Sounds like a Chinese mass grave

to me Casey (saves on concrete)

They use those cable climbing

winches on construction scaffolds

Only issues are the excess cable

& their tendency not to sync

BOBBY'S LITL BRO. said...

We got them to sync pretty good and had a master control board that we could stop-up-down each winch individuality. And we would trim up the cables after we trimmed out. the only cable was the length of the hang. When we were done with the dead men we would just leave in the ground and cover with some dirt left from the dig.
