Anna May Wong (From Buckles)

".....hair the color of the raven's wing!" is the way my dad described Miss Wong in one of his letters.
William P. Hall imported a lot of young elephants in the 1920's a number of which remained in the circus business for many years.
"Sidney" and "Wilma" were named after his daughters and others like "Katie", "Nellie", "Tessie", "Juno", "Mona", "Sadie", "Elsie", etc. some of which were still around when I was an adult.
My dad continually lobbied to have one named after his raven haired lady and they eventually gave in.
