The Rosell Troupe. (I would later play for their act in 1967 during my very first circus band gig with the Aladdin Temple Shrine Circus band in Columbus, Ohio.)

One of the musical numbers used by the Roselle Troupe was a slow, Spanish-sounding number that was played while they performed the finale of their act (which might be what is shown in this photo.) Not too long ago, I learned that that particular piece of music is the INTERMEDIO from the Zarzuela (i.e. Spanish operetta) LA LEYENDA DEL BESO. It was elegant little musical gems like this that gave the circus musical programs of yesteryear a unique character which modern day circus music lacks.
