Tarzan And His Mate #4

Here, Tarzan and Jane react to a prowling leopard. (The scanty outfit worn by Maureen O’Sullivan in this film was a source of great controversy at the time. In the later Tarzan films, her costume was much less revealing.)

In the year and a half before TARZAN AND HIS MATE went into production, MGM had Johnny Weissmuller spend a lot of time in the gym, building up his muscles. (In TARZAN THE APE MAN, he had looked rather lean.) It is apparent in this scene that all that gym time paid off, since he now had the build that Tarzan was expected to have.
