According to the book "Dynasty of Dimes" which is the biography of Charles Garvin, Louis Reed arrived with the first eight Ringling elephants that Charles Garvin bought in June of 1958. He walked them from the train to the Beech Bend Park then stayed there for a while to educate the help on the care and handling of elephants.
