From Peter Rosa

BUCKLES and BUCKLES BLOG FANS:
I was with STRUPPI HANNEFORD today. She asked me to notify everyone that a car veered off U. S. 41 TAMIAMI TRAIL headed south towards Venice, FL. The car crossed over the median, continued across the large field and crashed through the back two Florida Rooms of the house and caught fire. The two back rooms are completely destroyed. With the exception of a few pieces, all of the CIRCUS MEMORABALIA and contents of the two rooms were destroyed. The main part of the home is OK except for smoke.
If you have any quality photos of Struppi, Tommy, Kay, Nellie or vintage photos of the riding Hannefords, Struppi would appreciate it if you would help to rebuild the HANNEFORD COLLECTION. In addition Struppi would appreciate it if anyone has quality video of her TAJANA aerial and cat acts. Struppi would also like to have a video of her 80th birthday held at the BIG E. She told us that it was one of the best days of her life.
All photos can be sent to Peter Rosa at rosapj@AOL.com or you can post to your facebook page. If you post to your FB page, please notify Peter that you have posted them and please put them in an album titled HANNEFORD. I will go to your photo area and copy from there. My facebook page can be found listed under PETER ROSA.
I will take all of the photos received and put them on a flash drive or print out the ones that are extremely noteworthy. I would like not to bog down Buckles Blog with all of these photos, unless Buckles states otherwise . Please limit all replies to quality photos.
IMPORTANT: If you have photos of the back room, please send immediately via my email address rosapj@AOL.com so Struppi can piece together all of the destroyed items for the insurance adjuster who is due to arrive on Monday, October 17th.
Videos and hard copies of photos may be sent to:

Thank you in advance for your help.

This is a great loss not only to Struppi but to all of our circus community. Struppi and Tommy had assembled so many beautiful and wonderful things in their home. In the 10years I spent as a part of the Hanneford family, I don;t think I ever saw all of the treasures there. But I still have the memories of the early morning breakfasts in the kitchen, lunches with Struppi's home cooking at teh counter trying to figure hou how we would pay for and bring Tommy's visions to be. I never did a very good job of documenting my career but the loss of these valuable bits of history is a true tragedy. Love to you "Aunt Struppi".

Back in 2007 we were invited by Struppi to come down during the CFA Sarasota convention and spend a day at the Hanneford Estate, our very first visit. It was wonderful; Diane and I were so thrilled. Struppi, God Bless her, showed us around and then said she had to do some paperwork, but we should please just continue our visit around the house and I should take all the pictures I wanted to. I believe I took about 240. The problem is this, Diane is my computer "rock" and has 98% of the knowledge of our computer files; she has been in the hospital since April 25th and is still in a rehab facility. I will do my level best to see what photos I can get to Struppi which I can only hope and pray will help her, at least insurancewise, thru this devastating tragedy.

We here at Hanneford Circus want to thank everyone for their thoughtfulness in procuring photos for Struppi -- and we appreciate Peter Rosa's concern --- however I think the appropriate place to forward any photos or videos would be to info@hannefordcircus.com or Dwight@hannefordcircus.com -- anything that needs to be mailed can go to the following address;

Royal Hanneford Circus
2250 Gulf Gate Dr
Suite C
Sarasota, Fl. 34231

Let's remember WHO the photos are for -- and do not forget Nellie her email address is poemashows@yahoo.com and she is on facebook under Adrian & Nellie Poema Chapay.

Thanks again!

Someone who has been with Hanneford Circus for the past 40 years!!!!!!

SEND ALL PHOTOS, VIDEOS TO STRUPPI:
This morning there was a post on BUCKLES BLOG indicating that someone has taken offense to my posts regarding sending the photos and memorabalia to me. I will step out of this situation. My intention was that all of the photos that came to me would be backed up as an emergency back up in case something else happened in the future. They would then be printed out with notation of the name who provided the photo and put on a flash drive and given to Struppi. Obviously this has irritated someone, so I will no longer be in the loop. For the record, I have already spent $96.00 of my wife's and my money on printing cartridges and KODAK paper to print out the photos that were available, not counting what was already in our printer and paper on hand. Two packages of photos have already been given to Struppi and a third is ready to deliver to her. Joyce and I declined Struppi's offer Saturday to pay us for the photos. My call for photos and videos was approved by Stuppi and she is the one that asked specifically that I add her aerial, cat act and 80th birthday to the post. John Ringling was the one who coined the saying, THE CIRCUS IS A JEALOUS WENCH!

I have sent a few photos from my collection of Struppi on to Peter Rosa via e-mail. I feel very comfortable that he is handling this in a manner that will assure they will go to the proper people who suffered the loss.

I'm sure that there were many valuable photos lost that can never be replaced. But hopefully with the help from loyal circus fans and historians, some of them can be replaced.

Just for the record:

"The circus is a jealous wench" quote is from Henry Ringling North in his book, "The Circus Kings."
