From John Herriott

Buckles, An alumnae of Big Apple and sensational show stopping trick roper, world class act and friend to so many of us, Vince Bruce, has passed on after a serious illness. Sure one of the good guys. A great loss. Very sad.
Respectfully, John Herriott

Ben and "Anna May" were on Big Apple the year they had the "Grandma Goes West" show so I never knew Vince well but I feel as tho I did.
He had that home spun cowboy attitude that made you feel like you knew him forever.
He once invited Barbara and I backstage at Will Rogers Follies.
We'll miss him.

We saw Vince many times during Grandma Goes West season and now and then in the following years.
As has been said, a really fine fellow, warm person, fantastic performer. Always looked forward to seeing him "next time". Can't believe he's gone. God Bless him.

Above is the link to Vince's appearance on a French television show.

Besides being a world-class roper, Vince was a stellar actor. I thought he was from Will Roger's part of the country until I spoke to Vince and discovered he has an English accent. Yes, English, like in Buckingham Palace English. He's English!

As a child in England he was bitten by the cowboy bug from watching the great Western movies and the rest is history.

In the above clip there's a bit of Vince speaking French.

Hi-Ho Vince!

Vince Bruce was a super nice person, and in my opinion the best fancy roper of all times.

He was a fellow Englishman and will be greatly missed.

Vince always practiced hard, and his talent made the circus world a richer place! His cups of tea after a pissing down rain storm were always much appreciated. Rest in peace, the Jaeger family.

I seem to recall seeing Vince with Circus Hoffman on my native Isle of Wight many years ago, and enjoyed his act then. RIP to a fellow Brit.

Besides being with Vince on Circus Sarasota, Chuck Sidlow and I had the pleasure of sharing a dressing room with Vince for the full three runs of the Sarasota Ballet "Ca de Zan". He never stoped moving a minute even in the dressing room practicing card tricks without stoping. It gives me comfort that I did have the opportunity to call him at his home about a week or so before he passed. He said he had resigned himself to his fate and did not want to fight any longer. Besides being the great rope spinner he was, he excelled at being such a great entertainer while performing. He was not just out there showing how good he was at ropes, his main interest was in the audiences enjoyment. Jackie LeClaire
