To accommodate DeMille, the Screen Actors Guild agreed to waive membership requirements for the circus performers who appeared in GSOE. Paramount didn’t have to pay performers seen only in long shots or in footage not used in the picture providing the footage wasn’t used in another film. Performers seen in closer shots received one day’s pay at Guild minimum. Performers that did special material that was not part of their regular act were paid Guild minimum for such work.
Wasn't Harry Thomas supposed to be the ringmaster in this movie? I heard there was some disagreement(?) and they replaced him with the actor (who was absolutley awful) seen in the released film.
