For those who didn't have the opportunity to witness RBBB as a railroad and tent operation, the DeMille classic presents a real opportunity to see and enjoy the daily ritual, complete with sumptuous color, sound track and action. Hollywood hokeyness aside, it's a wonderful chronicle of the past.
It would be interesting to learn if any of the outtake material that DeMille shot still exists today.
I bet if were in Holleywood and knew the right folks there are out takes to be found.
I just cannot see them with what a film costs to make them pitching rolls of Technicolor film out that was not used in the movie.
How many have seen the long trailer on TCM where DeMille names many clowns. There is footage not used in the movie.
Any circus bloggers out there know Jerry Lewis as i have seen shots of them making Three Ring Circus showing the Vistavision camera with the Beatty show railroad wagons and the big top in it.
Also the same for any one at Batjac productions as I bet there is also not used footage of Ring of Fear.
They make an internegative from the original camera negative and make prints off that to edit with so the original does not get scratched.
Who ever has the origial negatives stored in a salt mine the outakes ought to be right with it.

I have one copy of this book that saw many visits from the hands of a small boy when it was new. And later, I acquired a copy carefully preserved in mint condition.
