I am shocked to hears of this loss. He was a goid friend for many years and just a week or so ago he wrote me for info on Chicago Stadium shows that he was researching. A real gentlman and certainly one of the "good guys" He will be missed. john herriott
John McConnell, so many great memories of our business dealings and our travels down the road. John's laugh will be missed...The very best to John's wife and the McConnell Family....
Just a follow-up to John Herriott's comments......John McConnell, John and Mary Ruth Herriott and myself were working the Hanneford Ocean Center Arena, Daytona Beach. Tommy Hanneford had the other unit in St. College, PA......John McConnell was the Ocean Center Show Manager. Tommy and I had a few words over a previous FL date..He had sent the word to John that I was to be fired in Daytona. As the four of us were walking to this very nice hotel restaurant across from the Ocean Center to eat....John said, "By the way you are fired." We both laughed and I said, "Let's eat." I am going to miss John..
I remember the days at the Pfster Hotel in Milwaukee during the parade sitting in the lobby cutting jackpots. Being one of the youngest John always answered questions and was more than willing to share information. I remember the years he produced the Shrine here in St Paul looking forward to his visit each year and a trip to a fine dinner with him and his family. He is a great man and friend and will be missed.

When John wrote the Shrine Circus book a number of years ago, he asked me for some information on Clyde Beatty's appearances at that date.
I told him what I could and thereafter he was always very gracious to me and I was flattered when he asked me to write one of the blurbs for the book jacket.
We will miss John for a long time.
My Dad love the circus industry so much and so many of you were such good friends to him. The McConnell's appreciate all the good thoughts and story and your friendship over the years. He truely love the circus and all of you that made the impossiable possiable. Thanks so much! Eric McConnell
