A DUST-UP between two warring circus clans left six people wounded, police said overnight, after confiscating guns and other weapons from the performers.

Police said it was unclear what sparked the melee yesterday between the two families, who were each camped on the eastern fringe of southern German city of Regensburg.
Neighbours reported hearing shots and police arrived to find a 48-year-old with a bullet wound in his leg and another five people between the ages of 17 and 55 with minor to moderate injuries.
Each of the families claimed three victims.
"It is still a complete mystery what led to the massive run-in between the two families from the circus scene," police said.
Authorities seized three guns, several knives and batons as well as banned implements such as brass knuckles.

Good Lord! Regensberg?!! This beautiful, historic old town was the smallest one (2 men and a jeep)of our (Co B 793rd MP Battalion) five detachments. Lots of classical music history to be found there and I believe there is/was an annual Regensberg Music Festival. One other thing, as far as German police (Landpolizei, as I recall) go, when I was stationed in Germany from '65-'68 civilians did not mess with them because they carried "blackjacks" and would use them fiercely and without hesitation.
When's the last time two Circuses had a "war" over here?

Was on RBBB with the Brumbach family and recall them to be kind of surly and not very friendly fellow performers. Did a sword balance act and little while later came with Euro versioun of American Wild West knife throwing western themed act. This must be aq later gen. maybe not.

I'm not sure, but I think it was two circus families, not two circuses.

The reporter failed to include the following confiscated weapons - Two sets of juggling clubs, one set of fire torches, several whips and a cane-like device with a hook on the end.

One perpetrator escaped in a VERY small vehicle. The automobile was marked "Lou Jacobs" on the side.

We have numerous skirmishes among circus families in the history of the circus. One involves refcent RBBB where a female member of a competing flying trapeze display grabbed and flushed down the donickerof the other female head piececompetitor, caltercationreating a big stink. Also in the Garden in late 30s his eminence equestrian Robert VasConcellos in a dispute over their equestrian three ring display had an altercation with Arturo Konyot that involved whips, etc. and with injuries brought local police and brief incarceration. Recently two families closely related on a small tent circus had a jealous fit and fight and the police were called. Guess the towners are the only ones that can't get along with their neighbors. Many are the water hose and light cables that are miraculously severed at night. This showbiz is alright.

Does anyone have any idea where these wagons are and how I could connect with the Brumbach circus?? This is Jan Todd, who wrote the article on Katie Brumbach Sandwina that appeared in Bandwagon, Vol 56 (2) -- March April 2012. I am working on a documentary film on Sandwina's life and am going to Germany in July 2018 with the film crew--We would love to see these traveling wagons and interview anyone knoweledgeable about the early history of the Brumbach Circus. Please let me know if you can help me connect with them? My email is jan@starkcenter.org
