Congorilla- Post Script

Congorilla-PS, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Bronze sculptures of Mbongo and Ngagi (the two gorillas shown being captured in CONGORILLA) are still displayed near the San Diego Zoo’s main entrance, along with a plaque that acknowledges the Johnsons for having made them available to the Zoo. Here, the young gorilla Albert, who arrived at the Zoo in 1949, is shown being introduced to his illustrious predecessor Ngagi. (Albert would later go on to become the Zoo’s most famous gorilla. His descendents can still be seen there today.)

CONGORILLA is available on DVD from the Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum in Chanute, Kansas (Osa’s home town.) Here is a link the Museum’s website: http://www.safarimuseum.com/.
