From Kenton Cornish

Dear Sir,

Hello,

I very much enjoy reading your blog over the past few years.
Would you have any photographs of either mounted skeletons or skulls of former circus elephants in your library of photographs that you could post?
Particularly any specimens that may have been on display either at large museums, historical museums or college museums
across the USA over the years, and may have been removed from exhibit.
Over the last few years I have been compiling information concerning such exhibits.
A few of the more interesting displays of once famous elephants I have posted over at the ROADSIDE AMERICA
web page.
My compilation is more just out of interest for myself.
But I think it would be interesting
to compare notes with others who may have interest in this subject.

thank you
K.C Cornish

This is off subject, but may interest some of you.
I went to the CSX railyards, in Tampa, last night, about 6:30pm, expecting to watch the unloading of the Ringling Red unit.
Instead I saw the spotting of the coaches and the animal cars.
Seems the 19 flats are still in Michigan. Mike Hickey(Trainmaster) told me, after loading the flats, they were being pushed to the area where the coaches were, when all 19 were derailed. No damage to any wagons or other equipment loaded on the flats.
The railroad is replacing 54 wheels, on the flats. Mike told me, the rule is, if a wheel travels 200ft. or more, after hitting the ground, it must be replaced. Some wheels travelled 1800ft. Tom Dillion is in Michigan, supervising the wheel replacment.
The flats are expected, to arrive in Tampa, sometime Sunday night.
Due to the fact that the coaches arrived early, last night, there was an animal walk, at 9:30pm to the fairgrounds. Not too many spectators were present.

The term that RR folks use for

derailed is "grounded" & it's the

Feds that require wheel repacement

Don't know if it's still true with

the new flats but in the good ol

days there were many different

wheels used on the assorted cars

which made carrying spares tough

I'm on my way to Seoul Korea

later today for a few weeks so

I won't have turkey this year

& I'll miss the Vidbel Show that

will play the Church Of The Cross

on Tuttle Ave near the Southgate

circle on December 4th
