john herriott said...: I would doubt tht either Emmet or Otto would have any interest in being the "boss clown". In fact it would no doubt be a Kenneth Waite or Horace Laird. The other two were strictly individual characters, but bwould still join in the tregular gags, walk-a-rounds, etc. As we know on Ringling also the head clown was the guy that got killede in t6he bBelvidere, forgothis name, and Jerry Bangs was a head clown on some big alleys. Emm,it, Lou or Otto had more going for them than to be a boss clown. John - You're quite correct, Clowns like Emmet, Otto, or Lou all had a lot going on.
