I'm sure you're correct, Buckles. I see in a 1922 Robinson program that she worked an elephant act, rode manage and swung a ladder. Generally useful girl it would seem.
By the way this program also says that the management imported an African elephant last winter but it proved not to be a "fit subject" to take on the road- is this story true?

Who was Irene Montgomery?
Probably Irene Ledgett, well known Elephant Empress and wife of Equestrian Director Fred Ledgett.
