FRAMELTS (From Chic Silber)

Chic--is this the 1979 image you mentioned? How much weight did these add and could they be directed, dimmed, etc., or did they just flood the floor/ring? Hope we can discover when the frames were last used and what replaced them. Meanwhile, many thanks to you and Buckles.

It might take a little more than

3 weeks to find the old records

of their dimensions & weight so

you will have to accept my guess

of about 50 kilos each set (just

having fun) = 110 lbs

We modified the reflectors in

standard aluminum flood units to

give us some pattern control but

they were primarily for general

illumination for the aerial acts

as well as fill for the rings

there was NO DIMMING in those days

just very delicate switching (ha)

(MY Monte Carlo tour was the very

1st Ringling show to have dimming)

Now in regards to the "frames"

the center square was the 1st to

utilize flat truss sides that Bob

MacDougall designed and he was

responsible for bringing in an

engineering company to assist in

the design and to certify the

replacement truss flying frames
