But Konti was some reason called "Bonnie" for awhile after she came over from Cristiani- where the route book one year had called her "Connie."
The first three old timers and the last three youngsters on Buckles' list were on the Beatty railroad show; the other five are the former Norma Davenport act.
1963 1. Sidney 2. Maude 3. Norma 4. Konti 5. Helen 6. Katy 7. Ola 8. Pete (Pee Wee) 9. Sue (Suzy Q) 10. Dena 11. Bee (Burma) 12. Gyp (Gypsy)
(Rex's second year on the show, note the name changes as Rex liked names with one syllable. Burma and Gypsy added in 1962 purchased from Tony Gentry. Helen, Katy and Ola added in 1963 purchased from Don Franklin Shows)
I assume the 1962-63 additions were made since both King and Sells-Gray were framed at this time. When the four from Jungleland were added in 1970, what happened to the ones they replaced? Old age attrition or were some sold? Later, about when the two smaller Acme shows closed, I believe Frank Murray got one. For years the Beatty-Cole herd was 11 but what replacements were made in the 70s-90s and when did the herd really begin to get smaller? It seems it happened rather suddenly (and about the same time they finally gave up canvas!). Dick Flint Baltimore
BUCKLES: We had 7 elephants at Jungleland, and I confess that in maintaining 72 head of cats, I did not get their names down for certain. Can you give us our herd's names during our last years, 1965-1969?

"Topsy", "Freida", "Jewel" and "Jackie" added in 1970 , Logan's first year, from Jungleland in California.

And of course Jackie was named
after Frank's daughter (as was
his elegant yacht in Lake Worth)
