And how about those lights Chic?
They made it thru a blowdown.

Don't have to waste your time polishing those bull tubs either.

Is it possible that they were able

to get those chandeliers down just

before the big blow as they look

fully intact & I never found the

trick to polishing plywood

I believe it was Louie Reed that Smokey mentioned about having to polish the brass bands on that type of barrel slatted tub construction which these two apparently are not sporting.

Those wooden bull tubs came with the Adele Nelson elephant act when purchased by Ben Davenport in 1942.
Smokey did indeed have to "polish up the handle on the big front door" or as in this case, the three brass bands on each bull tub.
He added that they were carried on top of the pole wagon and one was shattered one morning after being thrown to the ground.
Ben was hot as Hell and told the big top crew, "If you don't like handling light things, I'll take care of that!"
They were replaced by tubs that almost equaled those used in "The Changing of the Guard."
