Sally Rand #2

Sally Rand-2, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

In addition to the Fan Dance, Sally also did a Bubble Dance with this giant bubble. (She supposedly conceived and developed the Bubble Dance, in part, to cope with the wind while performing outdoors.)

When in grade school us wicked little boys had a jingle we would chant:

"Said Billy Rose to Sally Rand,
Do your dance without your fan,
She did her dance without her fan,
Billy rose and Sally ran!"

Odd thing was, we didn't have a clue who either one was.

During the 1940's, Sally was married to Hall of Fame Champion saddle bronc rider Turk Greenough from Red Lodge,Montana, home of many rodeo greats.
I had the pleasure of seeing her do the "fan dance" in New York City, when she was in her sixties!
