Isn't Lucy Snowden & Yvonne Carmen

Of the Luvas family

(and off topic Bob Dylan's real

name is Zimmerman)

Chic -
I believe Yvonne is a Joanides.
Ethel Merman was a Zimmerman, but it was shortened for theatrical purposes.
By the way, where did "Chic" come from? And don't answer, "The Bronx".

Looking at the Luvas sisters in the early years along with the commentary suggests a new project for Buckles. I for only remember stories from my mother about the great Luvas sisters as the act had broken up by the early 1960 when we performed on the Pollack show with the new Luvas Duo.

It would be nice to see a single artist or act and how they evolved over the years in the circus.

If my recollection is correct Trudy went on to perform a similar cradle act with her son Pete (who later married Isabelle). Pete and Isabelle performed the act in subsequent years ......1960 thru 1980? They then acquired and performed with elephants.

Struppi married Tommy and became princess Tajana and became a multi talented performer prior to becoming a producer.

This would be a great life story to follow on the blog in a "Thru the ages or over the decades rotogravure" format.

A lot of blog viewers do not know (or have forgotten) the ancestry of various artists in the business. Showing artists in some chronological context would provide a sense of history or a family tree.

Just my 2 cents

Paul,

I was born in Manhattan and grew up in the northwest Bronx, which was part of Westchester County.

Big Apple Circus played Van Cortlandt Park in my old neighborhood.

James A. Bailey is buried at Woodlawn Cemetary, Bronx, New York, along with John Murray Anderson, George M. Cohan and Irving Berlin.

Oscar Hammerstein, Sr and Vern and Irene Castle also own real estate in Woodlawn.

Just imagine the show all those great talents could put on.

Great idea Bill Powell, some of our circus legends have excelled in many areas of the business.

No Mike it was Staten Island

(County of Richmond) funny that

The Bronx is the only 1 of the 5

boroughs that requires the "The"

That sounds right about Yvonne

My name (not a nickname) was in

memory of a family friend that

was killed in the war (WW 2)

By the way it's only The Bronx

& Queens have the same borough

& county names as Manhatten is

New York County & Brooklyn is

Kings County (Knickel Knowledge)

In the very early days folks used to call that part of NYC "The Bronx River" and over time it was shortened to The Bronx.

Staten Island is the hometown of Lee Stevens, too.

The Bronx is the only borough attached to the mainland; the other boroughs are surrounded by water.
