London Zoo (Set 1) #1 From Eric Beheim

London Zoo 1-1, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

In 1937, TRU-VUE released a set of two 35mm filmstrips, each containing 14 stereo (i.e. 3-D) photos of the London Zoo. Viewed today, these photos provide a fascinating look at what a world-class zoo looked like 73 years ago. Richard Reynolds undoubtedly has information in his files on the animals that were in the London Zoo’s collection back then, and will no doubt comment upon some of those shown in these photos.

Starting off with photo #1 on filmstrip #1, this shot of the giraffe paddock shows just how close zoo visitors were able to get to the animals back then.
