Sunday Jan. 23 occured in 1927 accorcing to the "Perpetual Calader". From the photos and other 101 Ranch historical data, this seems to be a likely year.
Bob Parkinson once told me what a valuable tool this can be to those researching circus (or any other kind) history.
Thanks, Buckles, and Jimmy as well. As useful as perpetual calendars can be, the internal evidence suggests this is after the closure of the Ranch show in 1931 since it refers to creditors selling the elephants "when the ranch came on hard times." Oklahoma’s Orbit was the magazine section of the Sunday Oklahoman and published at least between the late 1950s and early 1970s in Oklahoma City.
Anyone have answers to my other questions asked under “101 Ranch Elephants #1” yesterday? They were about Sidney Rink and my 16mm film of the 1927 Ranch elephant act.
Again, nice sets of photos these past couple of days. Immense thanks, Buckles, for the pleasure you provide to all of us and the opportunities to share that you provide to people like myself and Dom with his excellent set of color photos!
