RBBB 1950's #1

Scan12930, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Not sure of the date on this picture, looks like
Roland Butler's work.
I am sure of the elephant tho, Barnes Jewel, very
photogenic and the one usually trotted out for
this type stuff.

Buckles,

Agree that the photo is likely Mr. Butler's work. Probably a combination of two different shots.

He was a master of what he termed "helping pictures along." I have often wondered what visual magic he could create these days, using the remarkable tools of Photoshop!

Buckles... I recently inherited a series of scrap books full of photos and histories of various circuses. the time period for most of these photos/circuses would be from 1890s to 1950s I am looking for someone that may be able to give me a value on this collection. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I am located in NJ Mchilds@mfabrikant.net
Thanks

Hi Buckles,
This composite photo uses a background photo from 1949. I have a copy of this photo. If I can dig it out I will send it to you.
You can see the Hay Wagon float between the tents.
A bit of trivia regarding this float: It was turned into the trapeze float that Betty Hutton rode on during the parade down Main St. In "The Greatest Show On Earth".

Buckles,

Notice the great elephant "shadow" that Mr. Butler painstakingly airbrushed in.
