David Carlyon Lecture (From Deborah Grosmark)

Thank you for the heads up about the Dan Rice lecture. I never would
have known about it...if I had not received Jim's e-mail.
I drove about an hour north, and attended the lecture. He spoke for 2
hours, and there were about 20 people. David and I hit it off right
away (prior to the lecture). It ended up that we spoke about Dan Rice
for almost 2 additional hours, after his lecture while enjoying some iced tea.
I took 6 pages of notes and he signed my book (I have a used copy).

He just e-mailed me, and it seems we have started a working relationship!
He is witty, smart, well versed and just delightful.
He is in the middle of trying to publish another book, and writing
another one about clowning.

Honestly, I could never had had such a wonderful conversation if it had
not been for Jim sharing archives, circus stories, and the CFA crossword
puzzle last month (Hey Rube etc...)!

Thank you so much, and here is a photo of David that I shot during his
lecture (on the First of May)!

Buckles—You played basketball! I had no idea. You should have joined our game Saturdays between shows, with the King Charles Troupe and me.
