Thank you so much Buckles. Love this picture of your mom and Christy! Christy’s face is unmistakable. As I stated in “Spangles,” she had a remarkably calm personality. What a wonderful bull … nothing seemed to faze sweet-natured Christy. She followed orders without a rumble of discontent. Aside from that, she was the sootiest-riding elephant of the herd. Loosing her at sea (from pneumonia) on the way back to the states from Rio was unimaginably sad. Her death took a heavy toll on my dad. The loss seemed to compound the many problems the Cristianis faced after that failed Ringling/Cristiani venture … a venture they had hoped would carry them over a very rough transitional period after the show folded.
