Howes Great London #3

More significant, one of the Great London bulls was male who, within a few years, impregnated one of the females. By the late 1870s, two live births had occurred with one resulting in a baby that survived and toured in 1880, the date of this unusual animal booklet. The Howes name was no longer used as the family supposedly had retained it though the effort was not successful for several years after they lost actual ownership about 1873. And as they say, the rest is history that we thought brought Barnum and Bailey together—until reading the real story behind the merger in a recent Bandwagon.
