Ringling_Barnum_Wash_Post_US_CAPITOL_(2010)

From Chris Berry
Nice photo from the front page of Wednesday's "Washington Post". The gentleman in the khaki pants is Ryan Henning, who has been presenting elephants on the Red Unit for a number of years now. He is the grandson of the late circus historian Robert Parkinson and his widow Marilyn Parkinson of Baraboo.

Hey buckles I was told that young Ryan was in charge of the red unit elephants now.

I negotiated the contract myself!
And when I say $35 a week and cook house, I don't mean $34.95 and I don't mean $35.05. I mean $35 and cook house.

Buckles,
You forgot, $5 a week bonus for driving, paid at the end of the season, if you're lucky!

And she does a beautiful job of demonstrating exactly how the hook is used as a guide, and not a weapon to hurt and maim mercilessly beaten elephants as the activists have so desperately tried to claim. When several years ago they got the little clip of Troy giving I believe it was Bonnie, a whack on the front of her trunk with the side of the handle, the one that has been all over Peta and whoever's websites; they filmed from a hilltop for over 75 hours and that's all they could come up with. By that point, Troy knew he was being filmed, and he was getting fed up with being filmed and he also knew that he wasn't doing anything wrong. Bonnie was reaching outside her area and she got slapped like a two year child would on the hand.
Point being, this is a great shot, for many reasons.
