I caught this show in Winston-Salem at Bethania Station. I was like a kid in a candy factory since I got to help put up the sideshow and eat in the cook house. Emmett and Pricilla were there and I had just read the new book by Lewis that told the story of “Spaghetti” in the glass top coffin with the tent stake along side his body in Laurinburg, NC. I related the story to Emmett and he told me that he was involved in a Hey Rube once and actually saw a mark nailed to the ground with a tent stake.

That's Johnny Pugh in the foreground, telling the 24hr. man something.

I also caught the show here in Texas as we had one of our frog strangler September rains(hurricane season for us) and it was supposed to play pure atlantic highway and the lot was a foot deep in water.
So many hours later they found another location in Port Arthur, Texas on Pleasure Island on aother bad lot.
They blew the 4:30 and made the nite show.
Bubba Voss was in the band and it was his last year.
I had the great pleasure to meet Capt. Fred C. Logan in all his glory and in the mud spotting trucks.
Edna Antes always made us fans feel at home on Beatty Cole.
What a great show Beatty Cole was and many great memories with many stars of the circus.
Harry

Looks like Schlarbaum's back in the center, with the calliope to his left.
