At left is "George" in 1940, the last tusker carried with the Cole Show however there was a tuskless male in the "Ranch Herd" named "Joe" that remained thru 1943.

My gandmother "Snooks" told me that when she was on the Cole show Arky Scott was in charge of the elephants. His right hand man was Whitey Cline (could be wrong on that name) He was going to leave the end of season a few weeks early. Arky talked him into staying the last few weeks. Whitey was laoding "Ranch Joe" into the rail car and "Ranch Joe" attacked him. He yelled for Arky, but Blanch a big slow moving elephant was in the doorway loading. When they got him out he died shortly after that. They called out a man with a high powered Rifle cut a hole into the rail car and shot him. My grandmother said Arky felt real bad for talking him into staying. This is what I remember. Hope I am close. Snooks and the other Plunketts shared a rail car with Zak Terral It was divided in the middle.
