This outdoor tiger cage would appear to have been part of the revamping of animal enclosures that took place while the show was on the road in 1955.
I was there in March of 1955 and there was no such tiger enclosure then. Note the overhead netting to prevent escape plus the bathing pool which tigers like.
They also rearranged the outdoor yards at the giraffe barns. New ones were installed on the southern side of the barn whereas they had previously been on the eastern end. They also put the new Grevy zebras in those pens as well.
I’m sure these improvements were done in 1955. After the mid-season collapse of 1956 there was no money for such.
When Franz Woska was with RBBB after Sparks quit the road for 1932, he offered a performing lion number at Sarasota quarters. He presented it one of the outdoor cat cages arranged alongside the big menagerie barn/sail loft building.
