Florida Cypress for the cage walls gets my attention. Mr. Beatty's 77 and 78 Wagons had floor panels inserted in each cage. These were boards side by side (tongue-in-groove, I'm not sure), with cross-members fastening them while serving as lifts to keep air circulating under the floor panels. George Scott would scrape out the straw, sometimes letting me if he was in a generous mood, and when Curry came around with the water wagon to hose down the cats on hot days, I made sure strong blasts got under these panels for a thorough flushing. Cypress was chosen for durability.
As so many of us understand, one little spark brings back memories that have lain quietly for years.
