The bull tub in the foreground was used to place the props, razor, towel, brush and bucket of suds.
After picking up the razor, "Toto" would place a front foot on the tub and strop the razor on his leg.
One night I heard a person in the front row ask me, "Is that Anna May"?
I was surprised to see Dustin Hoffman no more than six feet away, I shook my head no.
Buckles,
When I arrived at the Big Apple in 1986, you were working the routine with Anna May and Peggy, with Denny LaCombe adding his flair. To this day it is still one of my all time favorite acts, and I am pleased to have seen it in one of the smaller Big Apple big tops. I also met Dustin Hoffman there several years later, Derrick Rosaire and I were building some apparatus, and he stopped for a chat, nice gent. Peter, thanks for sharing the photo, pleasant memories!
