"The Brigands" (From Eric Beheim)

Scan12466, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Eric, thanks so much for the CD, I had no idea the Frenchman and Englishman had a professional connection.
I first became acquainted with Offenbach music over 40 years ago on the Polack Show where it was included in the Barbette aerial numbers.
I have "Tales of Hoffman" in both video and audio.

There is a great DVD of a live 1989 performance of LES BRIGANDS given by the Lyon Opera. The setting has been moved from the Italian mountains in the 1700s to an office building, a hotel and a palace in the 1920s. (The bandits are transformed into French gangsters wearing trench coats, tuxes, fedoras, etc. Believe it or not, it works quite well.) The production is sung in French, but there are English subtitles. This is a discontinued item, but you can still order it on Amazon.com.
