The Glockenspiel! (From Buckles)

In relation to yesterday's photo of Mooney's Musical Elephants this story comes to mind.

During rehearsal Bill Bradley came to me and asked if it would bother the pay-off elephants in the Neptune Spec if the girls played glockenspiels. I told him there should be no problem. He said they couldn't quite figure out where the girls could place the mallets when they styled, which caused considerable sniggering from some of my elephant men. I asked what they were going to play and he said "Climb Every Mountain" more sniggering.

The idea was eventually abandoned and Harold Ronk sang "If I Ruled The World".
