In the lower left hand corner can be seen the inverted V-shaped chute, that the lions passed through to get to the big cage. It doesn’t look like any of the chutes I’ve seen in other old photos, so I’m assuming that it was dreamed up by a studio art director. (Someone out there can probably tell us if a chute like this was ever actually used.)
Eric,
I have heard it called a "bible chute" similar to a "bible arena" given the fact that it is hinged and folds up. They were fairly common, back in "the day" on smaller show's or show's that moved(loaded and unloaded)quickly, normally only to pass the animals a short distance, and not to actually keep them in. You would be shocked if you had seen some of the things used for "chutes".
