Mae West-1 (From Eric Beheim)

Mae West-1, originally uploaded by bucklesw1. October 6th marks the 76th anniversary of the release of I’M NO ANGEL, the film in which Mae West works a lion act. Although her name doesn’t appears in the credits, it is generally acknowledged that Mabel Stark was on the set as an advisor during the filming of the sequence where Mae appears in the big cage with the lions. How close Mae West actually got to the lions can best be judged by looking at the shots in which they appear together.
