This is actually the "Hoxie Tucker Ring", which is part of the Circus Model Builders, a totally seperate organization.

There are presently 3 main circus organizations, the Circus Fans Association of America (CFA), the Circus Historical Society (CHS), and the Circus Model Builders (CMB). Many of their members belong to all three organizations.

All 3 clubs are facing dwindling membership. As time goes by, more and more of their key members pass on to the "Big Lot in the Sky". They are attracting only a few new younger members, and when they do, many lose intrest and drop out after only a few years.

For now, the three circus groups seem to function fairly well by staying seperate from each other. However in the near future (10 - 15 years from now), it may well become most practical to combine the 3 into one main circus hobby organization. The members could have three groups within this club, but all would pay only one dues per year, and recieve one magazine. As is becoming the case now with many organizations, the members would rely mainly on a website for most of their information. By 10-15 years from now, who knows what new features will be available on the internet?

Maybe they could pick up some pointers and be brought up to date by Acorn.

Thanks for the enlightening correction's.
However if they do get together,

The
"Circus Historical Society'
Combined
"Circus Fans Association"
And
"Circus Model Builder Bros."
Presents
"Three Rings of"

Circus fan groups are definitely becoming dinosaurs along with many other groups and fraternal orgs such as the Shrine. It's a sad fact of life--younger generations aren't interested, have their own style and priorities--the circus just isn't on their radar; for guys like me who love the circus and spent over a decade in the business in choice assignments, it's a let down that younger members aren't signing on but i'm not sure there's any quick solution--it's endemic with so many things-- i love books, guess what? used bookstores are going out of biz left and right--i was going to invest in some newsstands because i love papers and magazines; guess what? in l.a. in the last year alone, over a half dozen of the better ones have gone under after years of being on business--there's a sea change on many fronts--i think a good clean medium-sized circus priced right for families can still do business as long as it gets decent promotion and isn't killed by lack of good acts, fuel, permits and regulators.

I wouldn't say the younger generation has no interest in circus...they just perceive it differently than the older generation. There are currently thousands of kids who are enrolled in youth circus programs and learning circus skills for fun and fitness. We must allow these kids to have pride in their circus enjoyment and memories. These will be our future circus fans!

I do think however that the current organizational structure of today's circus hobby clubs needs to be constantly up-dated and modified, and put more emphasis on computer websites. Hopefully, there will always be social get-together interaction among those who love circus in one form or another.

Buckles,
I hope I have not gotten your blog in hot water by using the word tent rather than ring or rings,If so please forgive my lack of knowledge and I sincerely apologize for the use of the word tent rather than ring or rings.

When I thanked Jimmy Cole for the enlightening corrections. I assure you no pun was intended.
An innocent mistake on my part I assure you.
One thing for sure,it has been made clearly apparent that the three organizations, CFA-CHS-and
"CMB Inc" will not in the near future join in any way shape or form.
My mistake was thinking that all three of these fine organization would be "Fans of the Circus" AKA.
"Circus Fans"; Apparently not.

Never the less to the (CMB.Inc)
not the "Circus Fans or the
"Fans of the Circus" organization
I thought this year's
{CMB.Inc.) display.
"Was Great"
PS.
In Retrospect calling
Circus Royalty Circus Royalty AKA Parley + Ernestine Baer apparently does not hold a candle to calling a Ring or Rings A Tent.

What do YOU think of the possibility of combining the CMB with the CHS and/or the CFA in order to make a more united and stronger organization? ~frank
