Strates Shows 2009 (From Jimmy Hall) Part 1

File0001, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Buckles,
This season's photo shots of the Strates train unloading at
State Fair NY 09. 52 flats, 8 coaches, plus some shots of the goings
on here. One 10 in one and 7 + single O's
Business was brisk, greasers did well. The shot of the crowd was two
aisles off Broadway on a Tuesday .
Circus fans had a nice group of different poster and models set up in
their exhibit as well.
Will sent additional photos.

for a state fair

Thanks Jimmy for the photos

Rumor is that this is the last year for the train, anybody else heard that ? If thats true it sure will be sad for us old railshow loving guys. I`m planning on seeing it in Augusta GA in October, just in case it is.

Chic,
Working here but visiting like a towny, {mark}, never the less.

PS.The Strates train coaches are blue with white stripe.

It's likely that a decision about remaining on the train is evaluated every year. It's a matter of the train expense versus trucks, availability of drivers or leased tractors, storage tracks, load weights and clearances, etc. Then there's also the general level of fair/midway business in the US, which hasn't been great. Another issue is the vintage and serviceability of the cars.

Thare has been a glut of train

cars of every description (except

vintage coaches) for some time so

I don't believe obtaining cars

would be the deciding factor
